Thank you! I’m recovering- probably faster than a face-plant fall, and just as painful 😑

I too send you all healing vibes and hope that you recover quickly! Sorry it had to happen over the holiday that you love... But a huge pot of chicken soup should help a lot!

Dang it…so sorry you and Tom aren’t well, but glad you have each other’s company for the holidays as you rest and rejuvenate!

Tom & Jerry’s were always central to the Barinaga/Oxarango holiday traditions…along with roasting chestnuts! To this day, mine are just not the same as grandma’s or mom’s. And I haven’t done either for probably a decade now.

But I definitely think I’ll have to revive the tradition now that you’ve reminded me…

Happy Holidays Kiddos…y SANTE!🥂🤒

Oh that’s fantastic! I read Tom your response and he was surprised to hear the drink was part of a Basque family tradition! I can send you his mother’s recipe if you like. I always found hers to be the best. Loved that Bud Purdy would serve them at the Picabo Christmas party but his batter was thicker and not as light. Here’s to the holidays!

I’m not sure where the Tom & Jerry tradition started in my family…I believe on the Barinaga side after my maternal grandparents moved to their Nevada ranch. I think it was an American tradition that many of the Basque boarding houses adopted since they had large community gatherings during the holidays. And I’m told it was a “real treat” since they didn’t have many sugary things the rest of the year up in the Ruby Mountains! The kids’ version was without alcohol until they got older😉 (I’d love a copy of Tom’s mother’s recipe!)

Oh Susan, I’m sorry you’re battling a respiratory virus! Ugh. And that we have this in common. I actually was craving fresh ginger tea- but I forgot to order ginger root when I placed the online grocery order. I was in pretty bad shape that day so it’s a bit of a miracle I placed an order at all. 😑 and yes, here’s to changing the narrative! We are strong healthy resilient women!! 💪 if we weren’t, we wouldn’t have made it this far! I’m on the mend and hope you shake your virus soon. 🔆

We've had a COVID house for the holiday, too, which is exhausting with three kids, especially with FIVE DAYS home from school. My wife has really been laid low by it, though the rest of us seem to be okay. Sounds like you're experiencing much what she did -- which I think is a good reminder that it could have been worth without all those shots. But still a long path back to health. Hope you're back on your feet soon.

oh man, I am so sorry to hear this!! My heart goes out to your wife. It's brutal. And yes, would have been so much worse without the shots and without several years of mutations. Glad to hear you and the kids didn't suffer the worse of it. Hope everyone is feeling right side up again soon.
