I think Americans are obsessed with size. My asking to have the traditional treat made larger (as a birthday cake of sorts) is not something they would ever consider. Tradition is tradition. If you are serving multiple people, you just buy more. It took awhile for the baker to even understand what I was requesting. In retrospect, what I asked for was probably a bit sacrilegious. And oh so American! 😆
