Yes well I definitely have anxiety sometimes when I’m riding the bike because Italian drivers… Well, no need to say more. Lol And then other times honestly I feel like a kid again, which is fun
Hey Jan! 👋This needed to be described in detail—thanks for taking the time to do that. Such a metaphor for life: all about patience, problem-solving, attitude! You are a rockstar and inspiration in all 3 areas!
I am in Europe now too, for a few more days— the last 3 days visiting Toulouse, France. An amazing place—the pink city, thanks to the light terra cotta-colored buildings that have a warm pinkish glow, most made of brick—a very gentle charming type brick.
I met up with someone from our valley and we explored Toulouse for 3 days . In airport now—on way to Munich, final destination Tegernsee, Germany Ketchum’s sister city, where I know people because of student exchange program that our family took part in about 12 years ago.
So… Sun Valley-area connections are making this trip super fun!
I am traveling by myself but stayed just outside of Paris with an old friend and will stay in Tegernsee with the mom of our (now adult) exchange student—we have connected over the years. Met up in Toulouse for 3 days with Barb Mollineaux from the valley -maybe you know her? In between, I took a one-week weaving class outside of Nerac. It has all been amazing!! Back to SV on Tues.
Whoa even if that was quite stressful, the post and writing made me happy! If you can find it you may enjoy it https://www.amazon.com/Italy-beginners-G-Mikes/dp/B0000COA4W
ha! what a fun old book! do you have this? How did you know about it? If it wasn't so pricey, I'd buy a copy.
I've read a few of his books but totally forgot about them but this post reminded me. Free copy on the web probably expired copyright? https://www.elib.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Italy-for-Beginners-George-Mikes-1956.pdf
Thank you!! Can't wait to read the "Who was Mussolini" section lol! Fun!
He's very funny. I have to re-read his books probably find them on eBay.
Lord have mercy! I had anxiety just reading this! I’ll stick to my feet, public transportation, and Uber/Lyft!!
