On the last day of our three-night honeymoon, Tom asked for the name of a good florist in Tulsa, which is odd because he’s sent me flowers before. But that wasn’t important. I quickly responded, “Save the money”. I mean, of course, I love getting flowers. But flowers sent through a florist are super expensive. Remember, there’s still a bathroom renovation to be done in Sicily! “Tell you what,” I said, “I’ll buy flowers at Trader Joe’s and you can pay the bill.”
A few days later, I sent Tom the following photo and thanked him for the beautiful bouquet.
To which he responded, rather hesitantly, “Umm… I didn’t send those. You told me not to send you any.”
oh goodness, I love this man.
Meanwhile, it’s been in the triple digits here all week. Yesterday was the worst.
I keep my air at 75/76, which means my place hovers around 80 (old house, poor insulation). Hey, I'm lucky to have A/C. When I start to feel hot, I just go outside. After a few minutes I come back in and cool off. Mazie and I take a walk first thing in the morning before it hits 85 and that seems to be it for the day. Even in the evening, I can barely get her across the street. This pup does not like extremes!
Speaking of pups, my neighbor went to Vegas to pick up a new Golden Retriever. Cute little guy she named Utah (in the tradition of her others being named Sedona and Sundance). We went over to visit on Tuesday and, while I think he’s absolutely adorable, Mazie might need a little more time to warm up.
When my neighbor texted me last night to say she had Covid, I was horrified and went to the store to get her fluids. Never even occurred to me that I could have caught it as well. Until this morning, that is. My eyes are achey as I type this, my lymph are swollen in my neck, and I have a blistering headache that is making me squint. Be careful friends, there’s a summer surge... Thank goodness this is nothing compared to my first time back in November.
On the good side, I’m thrilled that Mazie’s boy, Rupert, is staying with us for a few days. He is such a love bug. And they can entertain each other.
That is, when they’re not responding to the heat.
I’m heading back to bed where I’ll be contemplating the new development in my ceiling. And trying not to think about the first thing I saw yesterday morning.
Ever since the mold appeared during Christmas 2021, I’ve known I needed to move. That moisture resulted in paint puckering and, finally, I just peeled some of it off. Now I really need to move. Well, you know, there’s also the water-stained ceiling and the bug…
Cheers to August, my friends! Enjoy these last days of summer. Stay well. Stay cool.
Holding you in healing love … and chuckles at your post 🤩I lived in Miami years ago and we called the roaches Mahogany Birds… huge creatures that could fly. Love you
Hope you feel better and get everything resolved. Being sick never helps.
Sending ‘cool’ feedback.:)
